Simcoe Couple Celebrates

A very pleasant and happy gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Howarth, Agricultural Street, Simcoe, on Saturday, 12 Mar 1921, to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding.

A goodly crowd of friends responded heartily to the invitation. There were many varied and beautiful presents from England, Toronto, Hamilton and Simcoe. The house was tastefully decorated and everything was carried out in good order. There were songs, dances, cards and toasts and congratulations to the happy couple.

Mr. Henry Horwarth was among the first to answer the call for the Great War, and his son, Ben Wright Howarth, was amongst the fallen, being hilled at Vimy Ridge, in April 1917. His son-in-law, Pte. Wesley Gurr, died of wounds received in France. All served in France and Belgium.

The gathering was brought to a close by all joining hands and singing "Auld Lang Syne", "God Save the King", and Rule Britannia.
