I. E. Hoffman
dies;
Taken ill Monday
Pontiac, 2 Nov 1921 -- Ill
only since Monday night, Isaac E. Hoffman, well known Pontiac church
worker and member of Odd Fellow lodges here, died at the family
home this morning from the effects of strangulated hernia. He
underwent an operation at 3 o'clock Tuesday morning, but was unable
to survive the results of his affliction.
Mr. Hoffman had been working
as usual at Ford's plant in Highland Park when he was taken ill
suddenly Monday night. Rushed to the City Hospital here, an
operation was immediately performed by the affliction had progressed
so far that there was little hope for recovery.
Born in Smithville, Ontario,
27 Jul 1863, Mr. Hoffman married Miss Alice Hayman in Stratford,
Ontario, 35 years ago. From this union two sons and two daughters
were born, all of whom survive, with the widow, Harvey of Detroit,
Ted at home, Mrs. Louise Caldwell of Detroit, and Mrs. Bertha Barnes
of Pontiac.

Melvin Hoffman of Greenville, Michigan,
Mrs. Harriett Abraham and Mrs. Terese Mace of Waterford, Ontario,
are brothers and sisters.
For 14 years Mr. Hoffman was
a member of the First Baptist church and was a worker in the
Memorial chapel before it became the Memorial Baptist church. He was
a charter member of the Odd Fellow lodge of Waterford, Ontario, and
a member of I.O.O.F. No. 3 Union Encampment No. 18, Canton Pontiac
No. 3, and Welcome Rebekah No. 246 of Pontiac.
