Squire J. Beemer of Colborne dies

Simcoe, 13 Dec 1921 -- Squire John Beemer died at his home in Colborne village, just north of the corporation, at 10 o'clock yesterday, in his 93rd year.

He was born in the same house in which he said his farewell to earth and throughout his long life had on but one occasion been absence there from for a fortnight.

He was police magistrate for Simcoe for 20 years, retiring about the year 1913. In all his magisterial life but six appeals were entered against his findings, and on three of these he was sustained.

His grandfather, John Beemer, was in his day the third pioneer to settle west of Hamilton, and later he was the only magistrate in the district.

The remains will be laid to rest in Old Windham cemetery; funeral from the house at 3 o'clock on Thursday.

Harry Beemer is the only child surviving.
