PRIVATE WILFRED SIMMONS

Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Simmons of Courtland, who died from appendicitis in a French hospital on 4 October.

He enlisted with the headquarters signaling corps of the 120th Hamilton Battalion, while attending Hamilton Normal School.

From the 120th Battalion he was transferred to the Mechanical Transport Section of the Army Service Corps.

He had been in France about a year and nine months, serving with the transport section of a Forestry Battalion.

During the greater part of that time he drove a three-ton truck, although for a period he drove a Ford car for the conveyance of officers.
