NAVAL
AVIATOR LIEUT. CECIL FRANKLIN
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank C.
Franklin of South Walsingham, Norfolk County.
Lieut. Franklin was a graduate of
the Ontario College of Pharmacy and employed in a drug store in
Renfrew as a dispensing chemist.
He was killed while on duty in
England as the result of an accident.

28 Mar 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.
Mr. and Mrs. F. C.
Franklin of Clear Creek may feel assured of the heartfelt sympathy
of a large number of the people of Port Rowan, where they are so
well and favorably known, upon the loss of their bright young son,
Cecil, who was accidentally killed in training in the Flying Corps
in England.

The
following is from the Clear Creek column on page 5 of the
28 Mar 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.
A cablegram came on Thursday, 21
Mar 1918 to
Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Franklin, bearing the sad news
that their eldest son, Cecil, had met his death in
an aeroplane accident in England.
Cecil was a first class druggist
and up to the time
of his enlistment was in a drug store at Renfrew.
He enlisted in the Flying Corp, and had been in England about
three months when the accident happened.
His body was laid to rest on
Friday, 22 Mar 1918
in England. The parents, to whom the death of
their son comes as a great blow, have the sympathy
of the community in their bereavement.

The sad news of the death of Pte.
Cecil Franklin
of Clear Creek cam as a shock to our village.
Though not a resident of the immediate vicinity,
he was well known here and every heart goes
out in sympathy to the bereaved.

We were all very sorry
to hear of the death of
Lieut. Cecil Franklin. The unfortunate young
man fell from his areoplane in England.

The
following is from the Clear Creek column on page 2 of the
13 Jun 1918 issue of the Simcoe Reformer newspaper.
The memorial service held here in
the
Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon for
Lieut. Cecil Franklin, who met his death
in an aeroplane accident, was largely
attended, the church being filled to capacity.
Among those present were friends [from]
Tillsonburg, Springfield, Port Burwell,
Frogmore, Port Rowan and other places.
Rev. Mr. Davis took charge of the service.
