Had Worked Upon Railroad 50 Years

John W. Taylor Died in Simcoe 
Tuesday in 87th Year

Another of Simcoe's esteemed residents, in the person of John William Taylor, passed away on Tuesday night, at his late residence, 222 Metcalfe street, following an illness of a few days. He was in his 87th year.

Born in England, the eldest son of the late John Taylor and Mariah Teal, he came to this country 62 years ago. For over 60 years he was an employee of the C. N. R. and section foreman of the Port Rowan-Simcoe line. He was a member of the United Church.

Surviving are three sons, T. W. R. Taylor of Tillsonburg, J. H. A. Taylor of Bloomfield and Jos. R. Taylor of Woodhouse; five daughters, Mrs. Bert Stage, Mrs. J. H. Maxwell and Mrs. Gordon Murphy, all of Simcoe, and Mrs. Arthur Wood of Woodhouse; a granddaughter, Mrs. Clayton Ward of Villa Nova, whom the deceased raised; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Thurlow and Miss Jane Taylor in England and a nephew, Victor Thorne of Toronto. Mrs. Thomas Taylor of Toronto is a sister-in-law. His wife, who before her marriage was Margaret Broadley, predeceased him 15 years ago.

The funeral will be held from his late residence on Friday at 2.30 p.m., with the Rev. T. R. Todd in charge of the service, assisted by Thomas Morgan, diocesan lay reader of Trinity Anglican Church. Interment will be made in Oakwood cemetery.

Through an oversight the name of Mrs. Laverne Armstrong of Lynnville, one of the surviving daughters of the late John William Taylor, was omitted in the account of Mr. Taylor's death which appeared in Thursday's Reformer.
